International Late Summer Music Festival Dubrovnik

International Late Summer Music Festival Dubrovnik is a festival launched by Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra for the first time in 2013. and it found great acceptance among the audience. It takes time in the late August and lasts until late September. Its aim is to keep the presence of music and cultural vibrancy in Dubrovnik after the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.

The end of August and almost whole September in Dubrovnik are reserved for great classical music concerts. For the fifth year the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra organizes the International Late Summer Music Festival Dubrovnik, which brings internationally acclaimed artists to the town. The music director of the festival is Austrian conductor Christoph Campestrini and this year festival takes place from 26 August until 22 September.


This year's program includes 15 events - symphony concerts, chamber music concerts as well as recitals that will take place in the Rector's Palace atrium. The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra will host some of the most famous local and internationally acclaimed musicians. Thus, at the opening of the festival with the orchestra and with the Dubrovnik Chamber Choir, will perform one of the currently best choirs in Croatia: The Cantores sancti Marci Oratory choir from Zagreb, one of the most famous Croatian baritons abroad - Leon Košavić and great soprano Monika Cerovčec. There will be also a traditional collaboration with the Laus Academy Dubrovnik which brings excellent musicians to the Rector's Palace - this year we are having pianist Ida Gamulin and the great cellist David Grigorian. The legendary pianist Dubravka Tomšič Srebotnjak will perform with orchestra on 29 August. A distinguished Armenian pianist and pedagogue, Ruben Dalibaltayan, will perform on 31 August and we will start September with solo performance of DSO's concertmaster, Đana Kahriman. The German conductor, Stefan Sanderling will join us on 5 September while at the same concert as a soloist will perform one of the best Croatian clarinetists, Radovan Cavallin. Our guitarist Maroje Brčić will have a recital on 7 September and Russian violinist Dmitry Sinkovsky will perform Vivaldi's music with Italian luteist Luca Pianca on couple of concerts in September.


As a part of the festival, the leading jazz musician in this area, Matija Dedić will present his new album "Male ljubavi", while the special guest at his concert on 14 September will be the world famous accordion player Merima Ključo. After several years, the soprano Nikolina Pinko Behrends will perform with the orchestra, while Canadian conductor Marc Tardue performs for the first time in Dubrovnik. Great pianist Jasminka Stančul will perform at Rector's Palace on September 19 and 21 and the festival will be concluded by our most famous pianist abroad Martina Filjak.
